Fuels Regulatory Streamlining Amendments Rulemaking
This action will make various revisions, updates, and corrections to EPA’s streamlined fuel quality regulations in 40 CFR part 1090, which were published on December 4, 2020. In advance of this proposed rulemaking, EPA is releasing a staff-level, discussion draft of the regulations. This is an initial step in the process of developing revisions to the regulations for the purpose of fostering discussion and information exchange.

Streamlining and Consolidating of Existing Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Programs
This action streamlines and modernizes EPA's previous fuel quality regulations under 40 CFR part 80 into a new set of regulations under 40 CFR part 1090. The purpose of this effort is to update EPA's existing gasoline, diesel, and other fuel quality regulations to help reduce compliance costs for industry as well as EPA, while improving overall compliance assurance and maintaining environmental performance.
