AirToxScreen Technical Support Document
Supporting documentation for the Air Toxics Screening Assessment can be found in the Technical Support Document. This document describes the data and approaches used to conduct the assessment. The document includes descriptions of how we:
- Compiled emissions data and prepared them for use as model inputs (Section 2);
- Estimated ambient concentrations of air toxics (Section 3);
- Estimated exposures to air toxics for populations (Section 4);
- Selected toxicity values (Section 5);
- Characterized human health risks and hazards (Section 6); and
- Addressed variability and uncertainty (Section 7).
This document satisfies basic documentation protocol expected of EPA products and also provides a resources for the technically oriented user community by summarizing the data sources, methods, models, and assumptions used in AirToxScreen. The document does not provide quantitative results and thus presents no exposure or risk estimates. Results and other specific information for the latest AirToxScreen can be found on the assessment results page.
Note: The 2019 version of the Technical Support Document are still being prepared. We will leave up the very similar 2018 version of this document until we've updated the new versions.

2019 Supplemental Data Files (zip)
-- This data folder contains supplemental data files referred to in the TSD, which include pollutants included in AirToxScreen, model evaluations, exposure factors and other information used for the 2019 AirToxScreen. NOTE: At this time, we have not generated all of these supplemental files for 2019; we will periodically update this zip file.

Ethylene Oxide emissions calculations from commercial sterilizers (pdf) This document, updated for the 2018 AirToxScreen, describes the methods used to calculate emissions of ethylene oxide from commercial sterilizers for the assessment. We will update the document for 2019 soon.
