The Border 2012 Waste Policy Forum (WPF) focuses on broad waste policy issues that require an ongoing dialogue between the U.S. and Mexico. The Border 2012 WPF works to meet the Border 2012 waste objectives on scrap tires, capacity building, hazardous waste tracking systems, and contaminated sites.
The Policy Forum benefits from broad-based stakeholder input by including non-governmental and community-based organizations, academic institutions, local, state, and tribal representatives, and binational organizations from both countries with expertise in waste issues. The WPF meets annually in a border city.

The scrap tire problem in the Border region is complex. In order to solve the problem, all stakeholders need to be involved and fully engaged in finding solutions. The Border 2012 Tire Group emphasizes collaboration among stakeholders (e.g., U.S. and Mexican federal, state and local governments, other governmental organizations, academia, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations) who have an interest in border scrap tire issues. Become involved yourself and help find solutions to the border's tire problem by joining the Border 2012 Tire Group. As a member of this group, you can participate in its annual meetings (which are held each year in different border communities) and in border-wide scrap tire workgroups that are aimed at completing projects that will have a positive impact on the entire border.
