U.S. EPA CHPP 2009 Partners Meeting & NYSERDA CHP Roundtable
October 1-2, 2009, Marriott Downtown, New York, NY

The CHP Partnership invited all Partners to come to New York, NY, for the 2009 EPA CHPP Partners Meeting & NYSERDA CHP Roundtable. The forum provided EPA CHPP Partners opportunities to network with other CHP Partners and exchange ideas on emerging market opportunities, hear the latest updates on federal and state-level climate policies addressing CHP, gain knowledge of successful financing and project development strategies, learn about innovative partner success stories, and participate in a peer-to-peer discussion among administrators of state-run CHP grant programs from CHP-leading states. Over 150 people attended this event.

The Friday roundtable discussion featured administrators of state-run CHP grant programs from CHP-leading states who highlighted their program objectives and the mechanisms used by the programs to select projects, establish funding levels, and trigger payments.  In addition to detailing the program elements, the discussions explained the rationale for the program elements.  State programs featured include: California Programs, Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, New Jersey Office of Clean Energy, and Oregon Department of Energy.

Waste to Energy Opportunities in Wastewater Treatment Facilities Utilizing Anaerobic Digesters and CHP Concepts and Technologies Webinar

On September 22, 2009, the National Association of State Energy Offices (NASEO), the Association of State Energy Research and Technology Transfer Institutions (ASERTTI), and the EPA CHP Partnership co-sponsored a webinar on the energy efficiency opportunities available for wastewater treatment facilities (WWTF) that use the generated biogas from the wastewater treatment process through anaerobic digesters. American Public Power Association CHP Meeting
July 23, 2009, Albuquerque, NM

The American Public Power Association (APPA) hosted a meeting on CHP that showcased public power utilities and featured CHP experts who discussed when a CHP system should be considered and how to leverage stimulus funds to install a CHP system. The meeting concluded with a tour of the University of New Mexico's CHP project, which won a 2007 ENERGY STAR CHP Award. The project has an operating efficiency of 64 percent and supplies more than a third of campus electricity needs.

BioPower Generation USA: Growing Opportunities in Biomass Power Generation
July 8-9, 2009, Chicago, IL

GreenPower's fifth BioPower Generation conference examined the latest developments in the U.S. biomass power generation industry across the entire biomass power generation value chain. The EPA CHP Partnership participated in the "Improving Plant Efficiencies" panel to provide an overview of the Partnership and our resources specific to biomass CHP.

International District Energy Association 100th Annual Conference & Trade Show
June 28-July 1, 2009. Washington, DC

The International District Energy Association (IDEA) hosted its 100th Annual Conference & Trade Show June 28-July 1, 2009, in Washington DC. The theme of the event was "Local Energy, Global Solution" and it showcased district energy and CHP as winning energy strategies. The CHP Partnership presented ENERY STAR CHP Awards to recognize highly efficient CHP systems at the event.
