- Enforces laws that protect human health and the environment
- Assures compliance through effective monitoring and assessment
- Improves compliance by explaining how to comply with regulatory requirements
- Enforces the laws that protect and improve the nation's air quality and the stratospheric ozone layer
- Sharply reduces direct pollutant discharges into waterways, and manages polluted runoff
- Enforces laws that require reporting, record-keeping and testing requirements
- Enforces restrictions relating to chemical substances and/or mixtures
OECA’s enforcement efforts require a team of professionals from a wide range of disciplines including the sciences, engineering, information technology, law, journalism, business management and public administration.
Over 3,000 employees from across the nation work in enforcement and compliance related capacities ranging from inspection and investigations, monitoring and assessment to case development and litigation.
