Ground Water Models - The EPA Center for Exposure Assessment Modeling (CEAM) distributes simulation models and database software designed to quantify the movement and concentration of subsurface contaminants.
Surface Water Models - The EPA Center for Exposure Assessment Modeling (CEAM) distributes simulation models and database software designed to movement and concentration of contaminants in lakes, streams, estuaries, and marine environments.
Visual Plumes - The Visual Plumes model system is a Windows-based software application for simulating surface water jets and plumes. It also assists in the preparation of mixing zone analyses, Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs), and other water quality applications.
Environmental Fluid Dynamics Computer Code (EFDC) - EFDC can simulate water and water quality constituent transport in geometrically and dynamically complex water bodies, such as vertically mixed shallow estuaries, lakes, and coastal areas.
Council for Regulatory Environmental Modeling (CREM) - Database containing an inventory of EPA's environmental models.
[Metadata]
Water Quality Analysis Simulation Program (WASP) - This model helps users interpret and predict water quality responses to natural phenomena and manmade pollution for various pollution management decisions. WASP6 is a dynamic compartment-modeling program for aquatic systems, including both the water column and the underlying benthos.
Soil & Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) - SWAT is a river basin scale model developed to quantify the impact of land management practices in large, complex watersheds.
HSCTM-2D - HSCTM-2D, A Finite Element Model for Depth-Averaged
Hydrodynamics, Sediment and Contaminant Transport. No link available at this time.
Cornell Mixing Zone Expert System (CORMIX) - CORMIX is a water quality modeling and decision support system designed for environmental impact assessment of mixing zones resulting from wastewater discharge from point sources.
[Metadata]
AQUATOX - Freshwater ecosystem simulation model which predicts the fate of various pollutants, such as nutrients and organic chemicals, and their effects on the ecosystem, including fish, invertebrates, and aquatic plants.
[Metadata]
QUAL2K - QUAL2K (or Q2K) is a river and stream water quality model that is intended to represent a modernized version of the QUAL2E (or Q2E) model (Brown and Barnwell 1987).
EPANET - Models the hydraulic and water quality behavior of water distribution piping systems.
[Metadata]
Hydrological Simulation Program - FORTRAN (HSPF) - This is a comprehensive package for simulation of watershed hydrology and water quality for both conventional and toxic organic pollutants.
Water Infrastructure Security - Monitors and projects the fate and transport of potentially introduced contaminants in water distribution systems, particularly as related to use and application in an emergency response situation. It can be used for determining optimal placement of extraction and monitoring instruments, to help develop monitoring regimes for routine screening of distribution system water quality, and/or to predict/track the fate and transport of contaminants in a system in order to effectively respond to a purposeful contamination incident as well as accidental events such as backflow or cross connections. (Available on SAIC site)
ReachScan - Estimates surface water chemical concentrations at drinking water utilities downstream from industrial facilities.
[Metadata]
Mercury Maps - A tool that relates changes in mercury air deposition rates to changes in mercury fish tissue concentrations, on a national scale. The tool uses a reduced form of widely-accepted complex mercury fate and transport models as applied to watersheds in which air deposition is the sole significant source.
Partners
Groundwater Modeling System - Provides an integrated and comprehensive computational environment for simulating subsurface flow, contaminant fate/transport, and the efficacy and design of remediation systems. Army Corp of Engineers.
Surface Water and Water Quality Models Information Clearinghouse (SMIC) - A database of the descriptions and features of environmental surface water and water quality models, and abstracts of projects using those models.
Army Corp of Engineers Water Quality Models - Provides a list of water quality models
