The Blue Skyways Collaborative benefits partners by linking organizations to resources, providing media attention to projects, tracking measurable results, and creating networking opportunities. Participants pledge to improve air quality through active and meaningful projects that feature innovations in diesel engines, alternative fuels, and renewable energy technologies. The Collaborative seeks to make the heartland of America the “Central Corridor of Innovation.”

2011 priority areas:

• Areas at risk of reaching non-attainment levels of air pollution
• Idle reduction efforts for transit and municipal fleets through policy, outreach, and driver training
• Emission reductions at ports or intermodal facilities
• Incentives for construction to upgrade and retrofit non-road construction equipment

Geographic territory encompasses:
Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico, and the area along the borders with Canada and Mexico
