Coating Alternatives Guide
Title: Develop Economic Analysis Capability of The Coating Alternatives Guide (CAGE)
Description:
The objective of this research effort is to enhance CAGF, by developing cost analysis spreadsheets for each coating alternative, and complementary application equipment for metal and plastic painting processes. These spreadsheets will allow an evaluation of costs of installing selected coating alternatives and complementary application equipment into a facility's existing coating processes.ORD has developed cost-effectiveness calculations for end-of-pipe controls and has identified emission reductions achievable by various pollution prevention measures. This project will combine these efforts with data obtained on pollution prevention costs. The final product will allow direct comparison of cost effectiveness (in $/ton avoided or reduced) between pollution prevention measures and end-of-pipe controls.
Cost data on various pollution prevention measures will initially be obtained from existing OAQPS data, where available. Cost calculations for pollution prevention measures will be extended as appropriate, by contacts with various coatings equipment and material suppliers. Cost calculations for various pollution prevention measures will include costs used in developing cost effectiveness calculations for end-of-pipe controls.
