TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
New
York State Small Business Assistance Program (SBAP)

The SBAP provides small businesses with free technical assistance. They
can suggest measures to help businesses achieve compliance, including
pollution prevention, material substitutions, and changes in manufacturing
processes.
NYC WasteLe$$
is
a comprehensive citywide waste prevention and environmental public awareness
program funded by the New York City Department of Sanitation, the New
York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency. The program was established to help New York City
businesses and organizations improve their operating efficiencies and
reduce operating costs through waste prevention. NYC WasteLe$$ waste
prevention teams work with owners and managers of businesses and organizations
throughout the City to identify cost-saving opportunities to prevent
wastes.
Northeast
States Pollution Prevention Roundtable
was
established in 1989 by the Northeast Waste Management Officials' Association
(NEWMOA) to enhance the capabilities of state environmental officials
in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont
to implement effective source reduction programs. The NE P2 Roundtable
serves state and local environmental assistance programs by managing
a regional roundtable of state and local environmental programs, establishing
a resource library of information on pollution prevention (P2), conducting
P2 training sessions for state officials and industry representatives,
researching source reduction strategies and techniques and coordinating
joint policy & program development.
New
York Department of Environmental Conservation, Pollution Prevention
Unit

The Pollution Prevention Unit provides pollution prevention information
and technical assistance to New York State residents and businesses.
EPA Region 2's Compliance Assistance Program provides communities and industry in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands with information on how to comply with environmental requirements and how to prevent pollution through on-site visits, seminars, Internet sites, and distribution of compliance assistance tools.
EPA's Compliance Assistance Centers were developed to assist small businesses and communities across America identify the specific federal environmental regulations that apply to them, improve their compliance with environmental regulations, and learn about pollution prevention approaches and environmental improvements that will save them money and resources. The Centers also provide state and local officials with a way to exchange information and keep up-to-date on industry-specific pollution prevention and federal compliance information.
New Jersey Technical Assistance
Program for Industrial Pollution Prevention (NJTAP)
- Founded in 1990, NJTAP has gained visibility and credibility with
industry as an extension service that provides environmental opportunity
assessments; functions as a clearinghouse for information related to
pollution prevention; delivers education and training; and aids in the
development and adoption of new pollution prevention technologies.
New
Jersey Small Business Assistance Program
provides
direct multi-media compliance assistance to small businesses with specific
technical, administrative and compliance problems. The SBAP coordinates
workshops on issues of interest to small businesses, conducts presentations
for trade groups, and develops materials and makes information available
on the NJDEP Electronic Bulletin Board (BBS - (609) 292-2006).
