Significant funding will assist communities with water quality and wastewater infrastructure needs and drinking water infrastructure needs. A portion of the funding will be targeted toward green infrastructure, water and energy efficiency, and environmentally innovative projects.

- EPA stimulus funds provide $1.25 million to improve water in Harrisburg, Ohio
- EPA Region 5's Water Division Director Tinka Hyde spoke at a groundbreaking ceremony in Harrisburg, Ohio, Jan. 20. The village is getting public water and sewer utilities for the first time through stimulus funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and loans from the state. "The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is providing us yet another great opportunity in Harrisburg," said Hyde. "We are not only funding central sanitary sewers and drinking water to a currently underserved area, but also a few dozen jobs and economic stimulus to this village of 300 people." Ohio Governor Ted Strickland called it "hope for Harrisburg."
