New Public Comment Period and Hearing
West Bay #22 Well draft permit
West Bay Exploration Company
Jackson County, MI
EPA is opening a new public comment period on West Bay Exploration Co.’s request for a permit to dispose of oil production-related brine deep
underground. If approved, the permit would allow the company to operate what EPA calls a
Class II underground injection well. EPA received requests for a public hearing during the
original comment period, which closed in February. The Agency will open a new comment
period and will respond to all comments received.
The new comment period ends Friday, June 1, 2012.
