Public Comment Period Announced – A-Line E.D.S., Inc., TSCA-PCB Commercial Storage Application, Waterloo, Iowa
INTRODUCTION
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 7, is submitting the A-Line E.D.S., Inc., Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) PCB Commercial Storage Application, and solicits public comments and offers the opportunity for a public hearing. The application is submitted by EPA for comment as part of its PCB commercial storage application review process. EPA will review all comments and consider if the application can be approved following the comment period.
BACKGROUND
The A-Line E.D.S. site, 808 Dearborn Ave., Waterloo, Iowa, currently collects PCB electrical transformers and PCB-containing capacitors for disposal. These units are dismantled and the PCB wastes are transferred to Department of Transportation-approved shipping drums for transport to approved disposal facilities. A-Line E.D.S., Inc. is requesting approval to store drums in a designated area within this site prior to shipment.
PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD AND REVIEW OF COMMENTS
EPA is accepting comments and requests for a public hearing for a period of 30 days beginning June 4, 2008. Comments must be received by July 7, 2008. The Agency will review all comments upon completion of the public comment period and determine if any modification to the application should be made.
