NRC and Linkages
A new panel of the National Research Council’s Science and Technology for Sustainability Program is examining how federal agencies can best work together to achieve sustainable outcomes. The NRC panel is undertaking a nationally focused study entitled Sustainability Linkages in the Federal Government. 
This initiative will attempt to identify and describe the linkages among domains such as energy, water, and health that are not routinely considered in decision making.

EPA and Biofuels

Planning for Rio +20:
Twenty years after it hosted the1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, will be the site of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development , or Rio+20 from June 4 to 6, 2012. The U.S. Department of State is coordinating input from federal agencies on the two conference themes: Green Economy in the Context of Sustainable Development and Poverty Eradication, and Institutional Framework for Sustainable Development. Through a new agreement, the EPA and Brazil are working together to plan a Joint Initiative on Urban Sustainability (JIUS).
