I Remember 1970

One way it seems like long ago---another, yesterday---
I remember lots of things, but lots have flown away.

The pant legs were bell-bottomed—the vests were fringed and long,
And the "Fifth Dimension’s"—"Aquarius", was a very well-known song.

"Tie-died" was invented—there were tall boots to wear—
People lived lots longer—"peace signs" were everywhere!

The "Polaroid" was invented and made photos while you waited!
The many benefits of this, were sure appreciated.

These days there are a lot more cars, which use more gasoline—
The price of which, is "out of sight"—if you know what I mean.

Of course, we make more money, but it doesn’t go as far—
As things cost more—like homes and clothes, and the aforementioned car.

Yes, folks are living longer, with better health, as well—
Which has its "ups", as well as "downs", as I’m about to tell.

Your savings may not last that long, and may not stretch that far—
And you may lose some options—e.g. –to drive your car.

The famous "Beatles" broke apart—oh, what a tragedy!
That incomparable singing group, was never-more to be.

Yes, I recall the 70’s, when mothers often said,
"Here is two-bits—run to the store, I need a loaf of bread."
