AgSTAR’s efforts to promote the use of methane recovery (biogas) technologies extend beyond U.S. borders. AgSTAR collaborates with the Global Methane Initiative — a partnership that aims to reduce global methane emissions and advance the abatement, recovery and use of methane as a valuable clean energy source. A GMI Agriculture Subcommittee aims to facilitate biogas project development in the agricultural sector in countries around the world.
The international community has a longer history of anaerobic digestion technology and many success stories to share. Connecting to international information may help further an understanding of anaerobic digestion. Suggested areas of research include:
- Review international incentives and policies that support the development of biogas projects.
- Find out about upcoming events and international activities.
- Learn more about specific international project developments.
- Add your biogas project to GMI’s map of methane sites.
If you are interested in learning more about our international efforts and are currently developing, or considering developing biogas projects outside of the United States, please visit the Global Methane Initiative Agriculture sector webpage.
