Marirosa Molina
I conduct research in three general areas: (1) Evaluating temporally and spatially DNA-based methodology that can offer fast, reliable, and reproducible results in identifying the sources of fecal contamination in recreational waters, including both freshwater and coastal ecosystems; (2) Determining the loadings, fate and transport of microbial contaminants from non-point sources in surface waters, using state-of-the-art technology; and (3) Providing a basis for comparison between traditional fecal indicators, true pathogenic bacteria, and DNA-based fecal indicators.
