Microbial Commercial Activity Notice (MCAN) for modified Trichoderma reesei from Novozymes North America, Inc., J09-0002

On February 27, 2009, the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT) received a Microbial Commercial Activity Notice (MCAN) from Novozymes North America, Inc., submitted under the biotechnology regulations promulgated under the Toxic Substances Control Act (62 FR 17910 (April 11, 1997); codified at 40 C.F.R. Part 725). The MCAN was given the EPA tracking designation J-09-02. The recipient microorganism is a Trichoderma reesei strain modified to contain genes from certain fungi. The specific name for the new Trichoderma reesei strain is claimed confidential by the submitter. This strain will be used to produce a cellulolytic protein preparation for ethanol production.
