Test Market Exemption Application (TMEA) for an Organic Acid Producing Organism from CBI Company

On September 14, 2006, the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT) received a Test Market Exemption Application (TMEA) from a CBI Company, submitted under the biotechnology regulations promulgated under the Toxic and Control Act (62 FR 17910 (April 11, 1997); codified at 40 C.F.R. Part 725). The TMEA was given the EPA tracking designation T-06-9. (The tracking is currently by industrial chemicals designation of "T," but in the future, microorganism TMEAs will be tracked by the biotechnology designation of "O" rather than "T.") The recipient microorganism is a CBI microorganism. The generic name for the new microorganism is organic acid producing organism. This microorganism will be used in the industrial manufacture of an organic acid. The test market time period, roduction volume, use and all other conditions described in the TMEA must be met. Certain records shall be maintained until 5 years after they are created. These records shall be available for inspection in accordance with section 11 of TSCA.
