Bridgeport Non-profit Leverages Funding for Redevelopment Project |
On July 20, 2004, the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation, a local non-profit development corporation, closed on a $350,000 loan from the City of Bridgeport EPA Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) grant. This is the first loan agreement for the City of Bridgeport and was made possible through a $350,000 EPA RLF grant awarded in September 1997. The loan represents a portion of the cleanup funds needed to address the Bunnell Block Seaview Industrial Park property at 480 Bunnell Street. The 21-acre former manufacturing building is targeted for redevelopment into light industrial use. The project has leveraged more than $3 million from partners including the U.S. Department of Commerce, the State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, and the U.S. Economic Development Administration. For more information about this loan or the City of Bridgeport EPA Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund, contact the EPA New England Brownfields Coordinator at (617) 918-1209. |
