| City of Clearwater Makes $160,000 Loan to Clean up Paone Property
|
| On June 20, 2002, "801 Celery Corporation, Inc.," a Florida real estate holding company, borrowed $160,000 from the City of Clearwater Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund to clean up the Paone Property Site, a 1/4-acre pesticide-contaminated site in Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida. The property will ultimately be redeveloped for high tech commercial businesses. This loan was made possible through a grant awarded by EPA to the City of Clearwater in 1999, which capitalized the loan fund with $500,000. The 6,000 square foot area of pesticide contaminated soil at the property originates from the former Burke's Pest Control Company, which operated on the site from 1968 to 1997. Cleanup will consist mainly of soil excavation and removal.
