THE BROWNFIELDS PROGRAM RECOGNIZED BY RENEW AMERICA


EPA Administrator The national environmental non-profit Renew America and the President's Council on Sustainable Development has announced that EPA's Brownfields Economic Redevelopment Initiative has been selected for a National Award for Sustainability in the category of hazardous waste management and recycling. The Brownfields Economic Redevelopment Initiative is managed by the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response Program's Outreach and Special Projects Office. The awards are being given by Renew America and the President's Council to 24 programs throughout the nation that demonstrate leadership and excellence in integrating environmental, economic and community sustainability.

The award will be given on Monday, May 3 in Detroit, Mich. at the National Town Meeting for Sustainable America, which is cosponsored by the President's Council on Sustainable Development and the Global Environment and Technology Foundation.
