Regional Workshop - Atlanta, GA (Sept. 27, 2007)
In conjunction with the Northeast Waste Management Official's Association (NEWMOA)
, EPA held a regional workshop entitled "Chemicals in Commerce: Using Data on High Production Volume (HPV) Chemicals" on Thursday, September 27, 2007, at the U.S. EPA Region 4 Office in the Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center in Atlanta, GA. The objectives of the workshop were to:
- Familiarize participants with data that is available on the HPV chemicals through the HPV Challenge Program and other sources
- Provide examples of HPV data use and share experiences in using HPV data
- Develop ideas for how agencies and programs in Region 4 can use this data
Attendees of the workshop included federal and state environmental and public health officials, as well as academic researchers and industry representatives and consultants.
The workshop consisted of presentations from federal and state government and academia representatives on accessing, reviewing, and utilizing health and environmental effects data made available for HPV chemicals from the HPV Challenge Program and other sources. Presentations also provided a chance for individuals to discuss how HPV data could be used in their particular region.
