4th Annual National CHP Roadmap Workshop
September 23-24, 2003
The 4th Annual Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Roadmap Workshop was held in Chicago on September 23-24, 2003, at the Holiday Inn, Chicago Mart Plaza. The workshop, which was a great success with record attendance, provided an excellent review of the progress of CHP activities in industry, commerce, institutional buildings, government facilities, and district energy applications — as well as tours of local CHP installations.
The workshop presentations can now be viewed online.
EPA's National CHP Turbine Technology and Regulatory Forum
March 5-6, 2003
The National CHP Turbine Technology and Regulatory Forum, was held March 5-6, 2003, in San Diego, California, and was sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the San Diego Regional Energy Office, and EPA's CHP Partner Solar Turbines, Inc. The CHP Partnership brings together our partners and regulators to exchange the latest technical and regulatory information and move towards implementing CHP. This initial forum focused on turbines and output-based emissions regulations.
The forum was designed to provide technical and policy information to CHP Partners and federal, state, and regional regulatory decision-makers. The forum provided state air regulators with in-depth review of turbine technologies' energy and environmental performance and their application in combined heat and power (CHP) settings. Representatives from Solar Turbines, Capstone, Ingersoll-Rand, Kawasaki, and General Electric presented the latest in turbine and combustion technologies, providing forum participants with an understanding of performance and emission strategies. These manufacturers discussed sites at which their technologies have been installed and the resulting energy and environmental benefits.
In addition, the forum included updates on regulatory developments currently affecting CHP, and a session on output-based approaches to emissions limits. The forum concluded with a session in which state air quality agency representatives shared their experiences in developing and implementing output-based emissions standards.
