| Additional Information | California's Distributed Generation (DG) Certification Program requires that all DG systems including combined heat and power (CHP) units in the state must be certified starting January 1, 2003. Emission standards became more stringent after January 1, 2007. This program authorized by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) provides credit for DG units that use CHP. Credit is given at the rate of one MW-hr for each 3.4 million BTU's of heat recovered. To be eligible, units must have a minimum efficiency of 60 percent and must meet the applicable emission standards for 15,000 hours. Certification of units is valid for a period of four years. DG units subject to the regulations will be charged a fee of $2500.00 for certification and/or re-certification. |
