Size of Award For fuel cell systems less than 30 kW in size that convert sewer gas, landfill gas, or other renewable sources of hydrogen or hydrogen-rich gases into electricity, the rebate amount was $3.00/W in January 2007. The incentive amount is scheduled to decrease by $0.20 per watt every 6 months unless provided otherwise in the Emerging Renewables Program Guidebook.

Additional Information This rebate is offered to all grid-connected utility customers within the electric utility service areas of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, San Diego Gas & Electric Company, Southern California Edison Company and Southern California Water Company (dba Bear Valley Electric). The following system requirements apply: - must be grid connected; - electricity production is not to exceed 200 percent of the site's historical or current electricity needs; - the equipment retailer must provide a 5-year warranty; - systems/components must meet national standards; - only new equipment is eligible; - systems must be installed by licensed contractors or owner-installed (rebates for owner-installed systems are discounted by 15 percent); - all systems must be installed with a performance meter; and - system audits may be conducted by the Energy Commission.
