| Size of Award | The Office of Policy and Management (OPM) administers the New Energy Technology Program (NET). Eligible grant applicants are individuals or businesses that are located in Connecticut that: (1) employ 30 or fewer workers; and (2) are developing non-commercialized energy saving technology or technology facilitating renewable energy development. Each grant provides five small firms with $10,000 a piece. Previous award recipients have used the grant funds for product development, prototype testing, patent applications, business plan development, payroll, and product marketing and promotion at trade shows. Projects that have received funding include about a half dozen renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, hydro, tidal, and fuel cells. |

| Additional Information | The typical schedule for this annual grant program is as follows: * November - Grant Application period opens * Early February - Grant Application period closes * February - Complete Tier I review of Grant Applications * March - Complete Tier II review of Grant Applications * April/May - Mail out Grant Award Documents * September 30 - Receive & review combined financial and progress report from grantee (reports must submitted by grant winner each quarter) * October 31 - Submit progress report to Department of Energy (reports must submitted by grant winner each quarter) Previous NET award recipients are ineligible for further funding. |
