| Size of Award | Minnesota cities, counties, townships, hospitals and K-12 schools are eligible for the Energy Investment Loan Program that will buy down up to 50% of the loan principle at 0% interest for renewable energy, energy efficiency or energy conservation projects up to $500,000. To qualify, the project must have a simple payback of 10 years or less and be in an existing building. The program is designed as an $8 million revolving loan fund with no set expiration date. If the $8 million fund is fully utilized, additional projects must wait for loan commitments to expire before additional funds are made available. |

| Additional Information | A loan application must include a technical analysis for each proposed energy-saving capital improvement. Projects involving energy efficiency and energy-conservation measures, especially lighting retrofits, are most commonly supported, but renewable-energy projects are eligible and have been funded. |
