Size of Award Municipalities in Vermont have the option of exempting certain renewable energy systems from municipal real and personal property taxes. State property taxes still apply. Municipality adoption of the exemption varies, but the exemption generally applies to the total value of the qualifying renewable energy system. The exemption can be applied to commercial, industrial, and residential real and personal property.

Additional Information Eligible renewable energy systems include (but are not limited to) facilities for the conversion of organic matter to methane, net-metered systems, and all component parts including the land upon which the facility is located up to one-half acre.
