| Size of Award | The Climate Trust is a non-profit organization that purchases greenhouse gas (GHG) offsets from energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. The Trust has released its 2008 request for proposals (RFP) for projects that reduce or avoid GHG emissions or sequester carbon dioxide. Some of the proposal requirements include: - Projects must reduce or avoid at least 50,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions over the contract term (up to 15 years). - Projects must primarily reduce carbon dioxide emissions (i.e., non-CO2 emission reduction projects will not be considered). - Projects must not yet be implemented and will not be implemented until after a purchase agreement is executed. The Climate Trust will assess submitted project proposals on an ongoing basis. |

| Additional Information | The Climate Trust's current portfolio of offset projects is comprised of energy efficiency, renewable energy, sequestration, cogeneration, material substitution, and transportation efficiency projects. Two cogeneration facilities, one at Oregon State University (OSU) and the Lumber Mill Cogeneration facility, have received funding from The Climate Trust for their offsets. OSU will install a new CHP facility with financial support from the Trust. The CHP facility is expected to eliminate 339,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over the course of its operation. |
