Size of Award The program is designed to assist farmers, ranchers and rural small businesses. All agricultural producers, including farmers and ranchers, who gain 50 percent or more of their gross income from the agricultural operations are eligible. Small businesses that are located in a rural area can also apply. Rural electric cooperatives may also be eligible to apply.

The REAP program is comprised of the following components:

*The Renewable Energy System and Energy Efficiency Improvement Guaranteed Loan and Grant Program

*The Energy Audit and Renewable Energy Development Assistance Grant Program

*The Feasibility Studies Grant Program

For FY2012, at least $12.5 million will support the grant program and up to approximately $48.5 million will support the guaranteed loan program.

Additional Information Application materials may be obtained by contacting one of Rural Development's Energy Coordinators. All applicants must submit their applications through their local rural development program office. The deadline to apply for loan guarantees under the most recent solicitation is June 29, 2012, though combined grant and loan guarantee applications and grant only applications have an earlier deadline of March 30, 2012.
