| Critical Information | The state of Massachusetts participates in the federal NOx Budget Trading Program. A portion of the state's allowances have been set aside for EE/RE projects. Sources that meet certain criteria (see below in Additional Information) may apply for these allowances which may then be sold to other NOx emitting sources for cash. Allowances are limited and availability is based upon the amount of other competing projects on a yearly basis. |

| Additional Information | DEP proposes to define Energy Efficiency Project, or EEP, as the installation or implementation of one or more of the following energy efficiency measures: modifications, replacement or installation of equipment, fixtures or materials in a building or facility which directly result in energy savings, including, but not limited to, modifications to windows and doors, improving lighting technologies, and more energy efficient heating and cooling systems. |
