| Critical Information | Renewable generating facilities with a nameplate capacity under 1 MW are exempt from property taxes in Montana for the first five years of operation. Commercial, industrial and residential properties are all eligible for the tax exemption and need to fill out forms from the Montana Department of Revenue. Renewable energy sources included in this tax exemption are solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, fuel cells that do not require hydrocarbon fuel, small hydroelectric generators, or methane from solid waste. |
