| Critical Information | The state of New York participates in the federal NOx Budget Trading Program. A portion of the state's allowances have been set aside for EE/RE projects. Sources that meet certain criteria (see below) may apply for these allowances which may then be sold to other NOx emitting sources for cash. Allowances are limited and availability is based upon the amount of other competing projects on a yearly basis. |
| Start Date | 6/1/2003 |
| End Date | 12/31/2008 |
| Minimum Efficiency (%) | 80% |
| Additional Information | Project sponsors of any of the following types of projects in New York State may be eligible for the receipt of NOx allowances from the energy efficiency and renewable energy set-aside allocation: (i) end-use efficiency projects; (ii) renewable energy projects; (iii) in-plant energy efficiency projects; and (iv) fossil fuel fired electricity generating units which produce electricity more efficiently than the annual average heat rate attributable to all fossil fuel fired electricity generated in New York State and non-electricity generating units which exceed a thermal efficiency greater than 80 percent. |
