| Critical Information | The Energy Improvement Loan Program (EILP) is sponsored by the North Carolina State Energy Office and provides low interest loans to energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for a maximum amount of $500,000. Some renewable energy and energy recycling projects can receive an interest rate of 1 percent; projects that demonstrate energy efficiency, energy cost-savings, or reduced energy demand receive an interest rate of 3 percent. Energy recovery systems, including onsite generation of electricity, premium efficiency boiler and chiller systems, and alternative/renewable energy systems qualify for this loan program. Loan applicants must demonstrate that their project will be located in North Carolina and will use existing, proven reliable, commercially available technologies. Individuals or organizations that receive an EILP loan must pay it back within 10 years. |
