| Additional Information | Ohio’s net metering rules were enacted in 1999. Systems that qualify for net metering must be intended primarily to offset part or all of the customer’s electricity needs. There is no limit on system size with the exception of 100 kW for microturbines. Overall enrollment is limited to 1% of a utility’s peak demand. In 2002, the rules were amended so that utilities now must credit excess generation at the unbundled generation rate (before credit was given at the full retail rate). If a customer accumulates credit for three consecutive months he/she can request a monetary payment for the credit. Net metered units must follow national safety standards but no additional requirements are necessary. |
