| Eligible Project Size | All (MW) |
| Critical Information | The Renewable Energy Production Incentive (REPI) provides a production payment of 1.5 cents/kWh (1993 dollars indexed for inflation) available for the first ten years of operation. |
| Start Date | 10/5/1992 |
| End Date | 9/30/2026 |
| Minimum Efficiency (%) |
|
| Additional Information | The REPI is authorized under section 202 of EPAct 2005. The credit was made available for 10 years (2006-2016) under EPAct 2005. However, the DOE issued a ruling on August 14, 2006 that extends the credit for 20 years until 2026. The REPI applies to solar, wind, geothermal (with certain restrictions as contained in the rulemaking), or biomass (excludes municipal solid waste combustion), landfill gas, livestock methane, and ocean (including tidal, wave, current, and thermal) generation technologies. Fuel cells that use hydrogen produced from eligible biomass also qualify. If there are insufficient funds then 60 percent of appropriated funds will go to facilities that use solar, wind, ocean, geothermal or closed-loop biomass facilities; 40 percent will go towards other projects. |
