Capstone Turbine Corporation, which has shipped more than 2,400 microturbine systems worldwide, is focused on commercial and industrial combined heat and power (CHP) applications that range from a few kilowatts to a few megawatts. To that end, the company has developed the Capstone MicroTurbine to address the power generation piece of the puzzle. Already, nearly 40% of the company's microturbines are employed in CHP service. Capstone is working with strategic partners to develop total product solutions for direct exhaust use, hot water, and chilled water CHP. This includes qualifying and integrating ancillary equipment, such as heat recovery units, thermally activated cooling technologies, and fuel processing. As an example, they most recently released their pre-engineered CHP solution, which provides a Capstone hot water CHP product with guaranteed performance, lower total installed cost, and lower operating risk to customers compared to previous offerings. | |
