| Partner Profile The County of Kauai has provided current information to businesses on the island by sponsoring educational workshops highlighting CHP. After some earlier CHP project failures in the 1980's, the County has been actively working with industry partners to improve the energy efficiency of the island, provide low-cost energy to facilities and expand the market for CHP developers and equipment vendors. Kauai has one of the highest rates in the nation, with large commercial customers (30kW-100kW demand) paying an average of $.21 per kWh. The County wishes to minimize its fuel use and improve the reliability of the electric grid, thus supporting the economic development priorities of the island. | |
