The Minnesota State Energy Office (SEO) is involved in the education and promotion of CHP technologies throughout the state. The SEO works closely with the regulated utilities to encourage cost-effective demonstrations of CHP within those industries where CHP provides the greatest ability to utilize the thermal and electrical energy of a CHP system. The SEO works with utility analysts within the Department of Commerce to verify energy savings for CHP projects receiving funding through the States Conservation Improvement Program. In addition, the SEO works with interested stakeholders to pursue federal funding for CHP projects within the state. The SEO works closely with the Midwest Combined Heat and Power Application Center to promote CHP in the state, and will be participating in the Hospital CHP outreach effort. The SEO is very encouraged to be part of the EPA CHP Partnership because of the focus on the ethanol and food processing industries because both are critical to Minnesota?s economic health. | |
