| Date Last Updated | 1/29/2013 |
| Incentive Type | Feed-in Tariff |
| State/Federal | CA |
| Incentive Administrator/Contact Office | Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) |
| Incentive Initiation Date | 2/1/2013 |
| Incentive Expiration Date | 6/28/2013 |
| Incentive Size and Funding Source | LADWP is providing a Feed-in Tariff (FiT) program to support the development of renewable energy projects in its territory. The amount LADWP will pay for each kWh produced will be a product of the Base Price of Energy (BPE) multiplied by the appropriate Time-of-Delivery (TOD) Multiplier. The BPE is scheduled to decline as each 20 MW allocation is subscribed to the program. The TOD multiplier varies by time of day and time of year with the highest multiplier being available between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM during June through September. The full schedule for BPE prices and TOD multipliers can be seen here. |
| Eligible Recipient | Owners of renewable energy systems within LADWP's territory, including commercial entities, residents and nonprofits, as well as state and federal government entities. |
| Eligible Fuel | Biogas; Woody Biomass; Landfill Gas; Municipal Solid Waste |
| Eligible Project Size (MW) | >0.03 MW and <2.0 MW |
| Minimum Efficiency Required (%) | Does Not Specify |
| Other Selected Eligibility Criteria | All technologies eligible for compliance with the state's renewables portfolio standard are eligible for the FiT, though LADWP expects the majority of projects to be photovoltaic (PV) systems. Projects must be registered as RPS-compliant with the California Energy Commission to participate. Technologies eligible for the RPS include: photovoltaics; solar thermal electric; wind; certain biomass resources; geothermal electric; certain hydroelectric facilities; ocean wave, thermal and tidal energy; fuel cells using renewable fuels; landfill gas; and municipal solid waste conversion, not the direct combustion of municipal solid waste. Biomethane is not eligible. |

| Other Incentive Details | The full 100 MW of contracts awarded through this program will be offered in five 20 MW allocations occurring every 6 months. Of those 20 MW, 4 MW will be reserved for small projects between 30 kW and 150 kW. If the small projects reach their reserved capacity limit before the total reserved capacity is met for a Tier, the remaining small projects will qualify under the total reserved capacity allocation until that category is exhausted. |
