| Incentive Size and Funding Source | The Climate Trust is a non-profit organization that purchases greenhouse gas (GHG) offsets from energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. The Climate Trust purchases credits at prices that are competitive with other high quality U.S.-based carbon projects such as those certified under the Climate Action Reserve. An emission reduction purchase agreement sets a price to be paid for each metric ton of carbon dioxide reduced, avoided, or sequestered by a project. The carbon asset is equal to the carbon dioxide emissions reduced by a project over its lifetime multiplied by the price to be paid for these reductions. The Trust is actively seeking projects that reduce or avoid GHG emissions. |
| Eligible Recipient | Project Developers of projects that generate carbon credits. |
| Eligible Fuel | Does Not Specify |
| Eligible Project Size (MW) | Does Not Specify |
| Minimum Efficiency Required (%) | Does Not Specify |
| Other Selected Eligibility Criteria | Proposal requirements include the following:
|
| Application Form(s) | Offset Project Solicitation (DOC) (4 pp, 121K) |
| Other Incentive Details | The Climate Trust's current portfolio of offset projects is comprised of energy efficiency, renewable energy, sequestration, CHP, material substitution and transportation efficiency projects. Two CHP facilities, Oregon State University (OSU) and the Lumber Mill Cogeneration facility, have received funding from The Climate Trust for their offsets. OSU will install a new CHP facility with financial support from the Trust. The CHP facility is expected to eliminate 339,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over the course of its operation. The Climate Trust will assess submitted project proposals on an ongoing basis; there is no deadline. |
