EPA’s Climate Protection Partnerships Division (CPPD) is committed to reducing greenhouse gases (GHGs) through cost-effective partnerships to advance clean energy and energy efficiency across the U.S. economy. As part of this commitment, EPA—in partnership with three non-profit organizations—is co-sponsoring the Climate Leadership Awards (CLA), a new national awards program to recognize exemplary corporate, organizational, and individual leadership in response to climate change.

The CLA—which also will serve as the cornerstone to EPA’s new Center for Corporate Climate Leadership—build on EPA’s former Climate Leaders program and provide additional opportunities for private sector corporations, government, academia, and individuals to be recognized for their leadership.

EPA is partnering with The Climate Registry Exit EPA Disclaimer (The Registry), the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions Exit EPA Disclaimer (C2ES), and the Association of Climate Change Officers Exit EPA Disclaimer (ACCO) to incentivize, recognize, and highlight actions that go beyond business as usual in the management and reduction of GHG emissions both in internal operations and throughout the supply chain.

Nominations that meet the eligibility criteria will be considered in the following recognition categories:

The deadline for nominations for 2011 awards was October 21, 2011.

A gala to honor award recipients will take place on the evening of February 29, 2012, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in conjunction with the first annual Climate Leadership Conference Exit EPA Disclaimer, which will be held from February 29-March 1, 2012. The conference will feature high profile speakers from the public and private sectors who will share key insights and innovative ideas on topics related to the awards such as: energy efficiency, setting and achieving GHG reduction goals, engaging supply chains, and other practical applications for managing and reducing emissions.
