Underground Storage Tank (UST) Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Process

EPA and the states monitor compliance with the Underground Storage Tank (UST) regulations. When violations of regulations are found, EPA and/or the state determines the appropriate response and may take an enforcement action to ensure that a violation is addressed and that compliance is achieved and maintained. These Web pages highlight key decision points and issues that may arise at various steps of EPA's monitoring and enforcement process, and provide links to essential sources and materials.

Detailed enforcement information on underground storage tanks is found in the UST Enforcement Compendium (PDF) (36 pp, 343K,About PDF).
