What software do I need to access EIMS?
All you need is a Web browser. The EIMS application was
developed to operate with Netscape. Netscape and Oracle, the database platform used for EIMS, follow the open standard for use of Java. The proprietary Java
standard employed by Microsoft Internet Explorer is not compatible for all
operations of EIMS. Click on the icon below to download the Netscape browser
if you do not already have a copy.
How can I find information in EIMS?
To find information of interest, you may specify the type of information, topic (name or abstract), geographic area, date, or organization. Enter your choices by selecting from pick lists or filling in text boxes. You may combine the selection criteria to narrow your search results to a specific area of interest.
Where can I get a copy of the information object that's described in EIMS?
Each metadata entry in EIMS describes the actual data object, and it includes a contact name, email address, and phone number for someone who is knowledgeable about the information resource. Contacts can provide details on how to get an information resource, and may even be able to provide it themselves.
Can I add information to EIMS?
Any user can register with EIMS by providing their name, phone number, and email address. A simple on-line form steps you through the registration process. Once you've registered, you can add new metadata to EIMS. A series of on-line forms guides you through the input process.
