Technical Support Center for Monitoring and Site Characterization
ProUCL Statistical Software Package for Calculating Upper Confidence Limits (UCLs)
The Environmental Sciences Division (ESD) in Las Vegas, NV, operated the Technical support Center (TSC) until October 1, 2007. The TSC is currently operated through ORD's Office of Science Policy (OSP) and is administered by the Superfund Technical Liaison program - Felicia Barnett in Region 4 is the TSC Director and may be contacted at:

Installation Instructions ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (also applies to versions 4.00.04, and 4.00.02)
1 |
Open Windows Explorer and create a new directory called ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively).
2 |
Download (save) the ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or the ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or the ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively) zipped files (setup.zip) to the ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or the ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or the ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively) directory.
| 3 |
Use the Winzip software(or the equivalent, e.g., EasyZip) to extract all of the files in the ProUCL directory.
4 |
Using Windows Explorer, right-click on the ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or the ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or the ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively) main directory and make sure that the read-only attribute is off under Properties.
| 5 |
Using Windows Explorer, create a shortcut (optional) by right-clicking on the unzipped file, ProUCL.exe (application), in the ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or the ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or the ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively) directory and drag the shortcut to the desktop; or use the Send To Desktop > (create shortcut); rename (optional) to ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively).
6 |
Using Windows Explorer, start ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively) by left double-clicking on the unzipped file, ProUCL.exe (application), in the ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or the ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or the ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively) directory, or by left double-clicking on the ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or the ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or the ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively) shortcut, or use the RUN command from the Start Menu to locate and run ProUCL.exe.
7 |
Try to open an example file in the ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or the ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or the ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively) sub-directory, Data. If the file does not open, be sure that the read-only attribute is off (right-click on the Data sub-directory; then, left click on Properties).
8 |
If the computer does not have .NET Framework 1.1 installed (usually for either a pre-2002 Windows operating system or a late version of Windows XP), then it will be necessary for the end user to download it from Microsoft. A Google search for "NET Framework 1.1" will yield several download locations. (Also available upon download of the ProUCL Version 4.00.05 (or the ProUCL Version 4.00.04 or the ProUCL Version 4.00.02, respectively) software for your convenience.)
