1:10 – 1:30	Presentation: Reduction of Distribution System Pressure (Part I) (PowerPoint, 14 pp., 892 KB) Provides an overview of economic savings possible by reducing the pressure in distribution pipeline systems. Reviews the amount of fugitive methane emission in various types of distribution pipe as compared with other sources of methane emissions. Outlines several manual and automated strategies that Natural Gas STAR Partners have reported to reduce system pressures during off-peak periods. Presents a decision process for identifying good candidates for economic pressure reduction, estimating the costs and savings for the various manual and automated alternatives, and a step-by-step economic evaluation methodology. Concludes with a discussion by Natural Gas STAR Partners on how they have successfully applied pressure reduction techniques to reduce methane emissions from their systems, reduce operating and maintenance costs and increase system efficiencies.
