Technical papers to be presented from the United States will review specific projects, techniques, and research problem areas. My talk is concerned with: (1) geography and human population in the United States: the flow patterns of major oceans, rivers, and currents along the 100,000 miles of United States coastline; and the distribution of human population along the coastal zone. (2) An example of how federal agencies interact: the role of federal agencies which have major responsibilities in Outer Continental Shelf exploration and development of offshore oil and gas reserves. |
