Green Bay Mass Balance
Management Summary
The Green Bay Mass Balance (GBMB) Study was conducted in 1989-90
to pilot the technique of mass balance analysis in understanding
the sources and effects of toxic pollutants in the Great Lakes'
food chain. The study, headed by EPA's Great Lakes National Program Office
(GLNPO)
and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources,
had many participants from the Federal, state, interagency, and
academic communities. The study focused on four representative
chemicals or chemical classes: PCBs, dieldrin, cadmium, and lead.
Green Bay Data Sets
The data have been compressed into 92 separate files using
compression software. The data are also available in one compressed file for those with
the bandwidth. It is 27 megabits in size.
When the files are uncompressed in a root directory with the maintain directory structure
option the files will create a directory called gbdata with subdirectories. These subdirectories are disk numbers
referred to in the documentation.
