Quality Management
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Order 2105.0 Policy and Program Requirements for the Mandatory Agency-wide Quality System, May 2003 (formerly Order 5360.1 A2), establishes policy and program requirements for the preparation and implementation of quality management systems. The order requires all EPA organizational units participate in a centrally managed quality assurance program. This Agency-wide system management system provides the necessary elements to plan, implement, document, and assess the effectiveness of quality assurance and quality control activities applied to environmental programs conducted by or for EPA. The intent is to develop a consistent approach to environmental decisions that ensures the collection of supporting data that are scientifically sound, legally defensible, and of known and documented quality. The EPA Office of Environmental Information’s Quality Staff is responsible for developing, coordinating and directing the implementation of the Agency’s QA program.
Quality Management Plan
The
Quality Management Plan document defines the Great Lakes
National Program Office’s (GLNPO) quality system. GLNPO is a
geographically-focused office, whose mission is to lead and coordinate
United States efforts to protect and restore the Great Lakes. This Quality
Management Plan is a management tool that describes how GLNPO will plan,
implement, document, and assess its quality system to support its mission.
The document also communicates the policy and provides guidance on GLNPO’s
quality management system to all personnel associated with GLNPO. The
document has been approved by GLNPO management and Quality Staff from the
EPA’s Office of Environmental Information.
Quality Systems Assessment Report
Attached is the
Final Report for the assessment of the quality system
supporting the environmental data activities conducted and funded by
GLNPO. The assessment was conducted on July 24-27, 2006, in Chicago,
Illinois and the attached report summarizes the results from this
assessment and proposed corrective actions by the GLNPO.
