1st Global Methane Initiative (GMI) Workshop and Exhibition in the Middle East

Event Details: The Saudi Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is hosting the 1st Global Methane Initiative (GMI) Workshop and Exhibition in the Middle East on Monday and Tuesday, April 27 & 28, 2015, at Le Méridien Hotel in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The event is in partnership with representatives from Saudi Aramco, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), and the United Nations. Workshop participants will receive technical information and learn about examples of profit-generating technologies and best practices to cost-effectively reduce methane emissions from new and existing operations.
GMI is an international public-private initiative that advances cost effective, near-term methane abatement and recovery and use of methane as a clean energy source in four sectors: agriculture, coal mines, municipal solid waste, oil and gas systems, and wastewater. Saudi Arabia joined GMI in January 2014 and will participate in the Oil & Gas Subcommittee.

Global Methane Initiative (GMI) Coal Subcommittee Meeting and Coal Mine Methane Workshop
Date: 3-4 June 2015
Location: Bogotá, Colombia
Event Details: The GMI Coal Subcommittee meeting will be held on 3 June 2015, followed by a Coal Mine Methane (CMM) Technical Seminar on 4 June 2015, sponsored by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH) of Colombia, and the National Mining Agency of Colombia. The GMI Coal Subcommittee Meeting will include updates from GMI Partner Countries as well as discussions and updates on the GMI transition post 2015. The GMI workshop will include technical sessions on coal mine methane (CMM) project development, policy and ownership issues, and assessment and development of CMM resources – international case studies. Technical experts will also participate in a CMM panel discussion.
